ANDRIA MATTA
I am an artist and writer currently living in Vancouver, Coast Salish Territory. After travelling extensively throughout North, South, and Central America, plus Asia and Europe and having lived in various cities along the way, I settled long enough to hone my skills at the Victoria College of Art. I found focus in mixed media/interdisciplinary work with a special affinity towards pen and ink illustration and tattooing. I have illustrated with the Beehive Design collective. I have begun to work on a graphic novel and I have just completed an illustrated book of verse. I have collaborated with a political prisoner to create comics of life on the inside, and showed and published many other visual works. I am dedicated to creating art that challenges the underlying foundations that drive injustice in our daily lives.
